The Ultimate Cape Town Motorcycle Experience

The Cape Peninsula is one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline anywhere in the world, and riding it on a motorcycle is something else entirely. From the moment you crest Chapman’s Peak and the Atlantic Ocean stretches out below you, you’ll understand why riders travel from across the globe to experience this route.

We start in Cape Town and head south through Hout Bay — a harbour village framed by the Sentinel and Chapman’s Peak peaks. The road climbs into the cliff face, hugging every contour as it winds along the Atlantic. This is one of the great scenic drives on earth, and on a bike it’s pure theatre.

From Chapman’s Peak the route continues to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where we ride the reserve roads to Cape Point itself. The views from the lighthouse are staggering — on a clear day you can see where the cold Benguela current meets the warmer Agulhas waters. On the return loop we stop at Boulders Beach, where a colony of African penguins has made its home among the granite boulders, completely unfazed by riders parking nearby.

The 1-day circuit covers approximately 160 km and suits all rider experience levels. The 2-day version adds overnight accommodation in Simon’s Town and an early-morning ride back via Constantia and the winelands passes — a completely different atmosphere that rewards those who stay.

All rides depart from our base in Cape Town. Bikes are inspected and briefed before every departure. Our guide rides ahead to flag any road hazards, and our support vehicle follows the group throughout.
